Reviews
We were early for our reservation, and the server who got our drink order right away was delightful and charming. Really all the staff impressed me. We're vegan and there were exactly two main coarse items for us. I really enjoyed the Impossible loaf dish. Perfect portions of each thing with a nice mustard. 👌
Looking forward to going again and trying dishes in other seasons.
Comfortable and slightly more upscale feeling atmosphere. I should've taken better photos but the snowman face was amazing haha!
Easygoing and friendly atmosphere, excellent service and attention to detail, also accommodating to customers. I enjoyed the food, great appetizers and tasty, healthy cooking! What I loved was being able to sit at a table, not be rushed and enjoy time with friends.
Lovely little place. The food and drinks are outstanding and the staff and owner are very friendly and always seem to be cheerful. I highly advise making reservations though. It's pretty much always packed, for good reason. I recommend the French pear Martinis. I can't find them anywhere else and they are absolutely delicious. The flavors here are great and unlike most places they seem to take the time to season their burger meat, making the burgers here taste so much better than many other places in the area. I like to get mine with goat cheese which is something else that's hard to find elsewhere but I personally enjoy very much. The atmosphere is also very nice. The decor gives it a warm cozy feel and everything is spaced out so you don't feel crowded.
Hope & Olive is a small restaurant in the center of Greenfield, on a side street that offers you views of the temporary fire station and the brick walls of the courthouse.
It has a gorgeous bar. The staff are incredibly friendly.
The coffee was weak. I was there for an hour and a half, and only managed to get one refill. The server was friendly but not very available. I was a party of six, and we ordered various items from the brunch menu. Pictured is the Big Ol' Greek platter. Advertised as a lamb burger with dolmas, tahini, pita, feta, and olives. Came as a pre-shaped ground lamb patty tossed on top of some baby spinach, no bun or cheese or topping, no pita, four olives, two crumbs of feta, and a watered down drizzle of tahini. Two unadvertised falafel nuggets, deep fried rock hard, were included. One intact dolma.
One member of my party ordered waffles and it came with a massive lump of something he wasn't sure was whipped cream or whipped butter; its proportions suggested whipped cream but there was no sugar. He just put it to the side. One member of my party ordered the Polish platter and said it was "a mess". A lifelong vegetarian ordered the vegetable frittata but found it "too weird" to finish.
The creme brulee was amazing.
I find it important to add that this restaurant is extremely popular with its regular patrons, and at this brunch was absolutely packed with people.
The acoustics are such that the volume was louder than a high school cafeteria. Conversation with anyone not sitting next to you is impossible.
Have been here for both lunch and dinner. Both were very good. They have an excellent bar menu and drink selection. The appetizers are terrific, especially the buffalo Brussels sprouts. The LEAST outstanding area is actually the entrees, although everything will still be good. Good service, also.
Incredible food. Hands down our new favorite! My husband and I had the Lamb Burger and the Caribbean Chicken and WOW!!! Also the cocktail Earl Grey was to die for. I wishing could give it 10 stars! Thank you H&O!
A hidden gem off the main way in Greenfield, Hope & Olive is a perfect example of what makes Greenfield special. The menu is creative, thoughtful, and delicious. H&O uses locally sourced ingredients whenever they can and the food is as fresh as can be. The dishes can be anything from traditional to inspired. Everyone on staff is warm, friendly, and helpful. Either everybody here is a regular or maybe they just treat all comers as a regular. I left here feeling nourished and well looked after. The prices are not cheap but they do reflect the excellence of the ingredients and the kitchen staff. The bar is full of surprises: good mixologists are hard to come by. Mocktails are plentiful, as are vegetarian and vegan options.
If you're reading this review for some reason before deciding whether to go here or literally anywhere else in Greenfield, let me decide for you: go to Hope and Olive.
This place is excellent. The food is fresh, creative, delicious, and filling. Interestingly, the prices are cheaper than at 99 or Applebee's, all while the ambiance and service are dramatically better. It's really a gem and I feel lucky that I get to eat here.
